On Tuesday, December 6, seven TVWC
members, met at the Madison Hotel in Washington D.C.
What followed
was…five action packed days!
We enjoyed
memorable sightseeing together…
with a special walking tour of the war memorials. Several members of our
group jumped on the under ground train to visit the Pentagon and the newly
opened 911 memorial monument. Like so many other metropolitan cities, DC
was alive with the holidays, with beautiful decorations everywhere.

We enjoyed power dining…Every
evening was a sampling of
some of DC's most famous restaurants. The Old
Ebbit Grill,
serving meals since 1856 and Hotel Tabard
Inn, built in 1880,
were the final favorites of our group.
The Washington Stage…We
all know the story of
Ebenezer Scrooge and Christmas past, but seeing
this Charles Dickens classic performed in the historical Ford Theater was a
treat not to be forgotten soon.

International President
Carlene Garner invited us to celebrate the holidays….Visiting
the beautifully decorated historical home of our GFWC President and the GFWC
Headquarters was the focus of our trip and
especially enjoyed by us all. And
then, as only in Washington D.C… on our walk back to the hotel, we were able
to view President Obama's entourage as the first couple was dining at a
hotel near ours.

On our last day
together… we participated in the
Wreaths Across America
Program, where 100.000 wreaths were laid
in Arlington National Cemetery. Our GFWC President, Carlene Garner was so
impressed with these plans, she asked to join us…which made
this unforgettable
event, even more special.
Without a doubt, our
field trip to Washington D.C. deepened many friendships and instilled a
greater pride in our membership in the oldest and largest women's organization in the world.
